West Dean College and Gardens commissioned a complex design, to be used on a variety of products in their shop. The college and garden is known for many things including its links with Edward James, the arts, surrealism, Mexico, its location in the South Downs, a place of education and also a garden filled with interesting plants, a walled kitchen garden and other buildings. All of these elements and more needed to be included in the illustration.
The design was reproduced in line and colour.
Elements from within the illustration needed to be isolated to potentially be used on a variety of products.
The initial line drawing needed to be suitable for use as a colour in picture.
